University of Stavanger visiting us!

🙌 Great to combine visit and exchange of knowledge at Energy Innovation – NORWAY between the University of Stavanger, Ayrshire College 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 , Marine Technologies LLC. / Edison Chouest Offshore 🇳🇴 🇺🇸 , Windco AS and Norsk Vind AS.

International group of students and staff!

A very international group of students from the University of Stavanger – led by Mona Minde – currently taking the fully online course WIND100 Introduction to Offshore Wind (the new course can be applied for from 1st December for the coming semester), visited us together with PhD candidates and academic staff. Their goals were both to learn more about the activities at Energy Innovation and to gain industrial insights from companies working directly in the offshore wind and maritime sectors.

The student group represented a broad international mix, including China, Czech Republic, Germany, and Norway – and likely even more nationalities.

Partners from Scotland joining

We were also joined by Alistair Rodgers and Stuart Millar from Ayrshire College, who were here for two days as part of our ongoing work to establish the Scottish Wind Technician Education Centre in collaboration with Energy Innovation – NORWAY, supported by The Scottish Government.

Local industry engaged!

We greatly appreciated the insightful presentations delivered by:

Jonas Petter Hovland, Operations Manager, Norsk Vind AS
Peder Smith, CEO, Windco AS
Frederik Thanem, Business Development Manager, Marine Technologies LLC.
Alistair Rodgers & Stuart Millar, Ayrshire College
Along with contributions from myself and our team at Energy Innovation: Stefan Månsson, Eli Seglem, Steven Kjørmo and Tomine-Alice Hetland Aase, who presented and guided the visitors through our training centre.

🤝 Building bridges between academia and industry

Having arenas where students, researchers, educators, and industry professionals meet is crucial – and something we should do far more often. The value of updated, relevant knowledge transfer is significant, both for developing competencies and for ensuring that education keeps pace with industry needs.

A big thank you to all who contributed to a rewarding and insightful day. We look forward to continued collaboration and more opportunities to inspire the next generation of offshore wind professionals. 🌬️🌍
