Annual Descent

This course builds the knowledge and hands-on skills required to work safely at height on poles, including correct use of fall protection and the execution of efficient rescues. Training is delivered 50% theory / 50% practical, ensuring both solid understanding and safe field performance. The course is conducted in accordance with RENblad 2014.

Course Content

  • User instructions and labelling for fall protection equipment
  • Storage, inspection and maintenance (including disposal criteria)
  • Fall protection systems: positioning, fall arrest and rescue devices
  • Risk assessment and SJA (Safe Job Analysis)
  • Selection of rescue methods and equipment; rescue planning and preparedness
  • First aid considerations for suspension (harness) trauma
  • Risks of falls to a lower level: fall forces, energy and tool hazards
  • Work-at-height area cordoning and bystander protection
  • Ergonomics: benefits/limitations of harness attachment points (EN 358, EN 813)

Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of the use and maintenance of fall protection equipment.
