eLearning: Introduction Courses to Wind Energy

3.5 hours of expert knowledge and practical insights!

The world is moving rapidly toward a low-carbon future, with wind power playing a central role in driving this transformation. Yet, as demand for onshore and offshore wind energy accelerates, the industry faces a critical challenge: attracting and training the skilled workforce needed to deliver it.

To address this, Energy Innovation has partnered up with MINTRA, a company specializing in making professional eLearning.

Together we are launching a suite of three online training courses with 3.5 hours of learning, providing a comprehensive introduction to the wind energy industry. The eLearning format makes expert wind energy knowledge accessible to all, whether managers are looking for a detailed overview of fundamentals and principles, or individuals are transitioning from another industry and seeking entry to the sector.

Course Overview

The three interconnected modules can be taken individually or as a bundle:

Book: Introduction to the Wind Industry & Its Safety Standards
Book: Environment & Social Impact of the Wind Industry
Book: Operating Principles & Components of Wind Turbines

More about the courses

These courses have been carefully designed with the most relevant, up-to-date and accurate information from the wind industry.

Their well-defined structure and visual presentation provide a clear and logical learning pathway through the wind sector, helping participants connect their skills with new opportunities, increase their awareness, and play their part in the global energy transition.

A Shared Mission to Build a Skilled Workforce

Meeting global climate goals will require hundreds of thousands of new employees in the wind sector over the coming decade. For example, a 1.5 GW offshore wind farm in Norway will require around 20,000 full-time employee man-years over its 41-year lifespan, with the majority of roles demanding skilled operators, technicians, and maritime professionals.

Frank Emil Moen, CEO and Managing Partner, Energy Innovation, explains: “There is a real risk of a workforce shortfall unless we act now. Our collaboration with Mintra is central to addressing this challenge.

“By combining Mintra’s Digital Learning expertise with our blended training approach, we are delivering scalable, high-quality accredited training with global reach, building a strong foundation of learning for the future of wind energy.”

“The partnership with Mintra supports our education strategy to achieve the highest learning outcomes. eLearning enhances knowledge retention and gives learners the flexibility to study at their own pace. Working with a trusted digital training provider allows us to strengthen the quality and reach of our programmes.”

Why This Partnership Matters

By merging Energy Innovation’s accredited expertise with Mintra’s world-class digital learning design, the partnership is able to deliver accessible, engaging, and industry-specific training that helps reskill, upskill, and inspire the next generation of renewable energy professionals.

Krzysztof Komorowski, Senior Content Manager, Energy Innovation, adds: “We are delighted with the outcome of the new suite of eLearning courses. Their accessibility, engaging presentation, and visual design truly set them apart in the market. These courses provide the essential information needed for a comprehensive overview of the wind industry.

They serve as a valuable resource for entry-level technicians seeking theoretical knowledge, as well as an excellent introduction for managers, workers, scientific personnel, students, public employees, as well as politicians and the general public.

Collaborating with the Mintra team on this project has been a pleasure. Together, we combined our expertise and shared passion for learning to create something impactful. The wind industry needs partnerships like this, sharing cross-sector knowledge and supporting the skills transition.”

Who Are the Courses For?

Covering both onshore and offshore wind, the 3.5-hour eLearning suite provides a rounded overview of the industry and is ideal for:

  • Entry-level technicians as the theoretical part of a blended GWO training programme.
  • Newcomers exploring wind energy as a career path, transitioning from sectors such as seafaring, offshore oil and gas, or construction.
  • Managers in peripheral positions in energy companies who need a clear overview of the sector’s economic, environmental, and social impact.

What Learners Gain

Each course delivers practical insights, key facts, and industry context, cutting through misconceptions about wind energy. Designed for efficiency, the learning experience combines concise content with embedded resources for deeper exploration. Learners will:

  • Understand the scale of workforce opportunities in wind energy.
  • See how their existing skills can transfer to renewable roles.
  • Appreciate the environmental and social benefits of wind power.
  • Explore the technical aspects of turbine operations and wind farm development.

Closing the Skills Gap

The global energy transition cannot succeed without a skilled workforce. Mintra and Energy Innovation’s partnership helps close this gap by providing learners with the knowledge, confidence, and pathways they need to join one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.
